Since there’s interest in mountain lions and bobcats on this site, there’s a great picture of a bobcat in this story — and it’s easy to see that under less-than-ideal lighting conditions, one could be mistaken for the other.

I dont think it could be mistaken for a mountain lion – About twice the size of the average house cat, adult bobcats weigh an average of 20 to 25 pounds, but sometimes are as large as 40 pounds. They are about 2½ to 3 feet long.
Although the guy who took the picture says it was about the size of a german shepard- that would make it twice as big(or bigger) then the high side of a bob cat at 40lbs.
We spoted a bob cat in our back yard in Pawcatuck, Ct. walking through the woods,
