Okay, let’s have a little fun here — people love Top 10 lists (that’s why Letterman still has a show, right?) so here are some of the most popular haunted places in the state as determined by the visitor traffic on our website and my general knowledge of Connecticut. If you’re looking for Connecticut ghosts and paranormal activity, look no further! And if you want to read more, just click through for extended stories about these places.
The Top 10 Haunted Places in Connecticut
1. Union Cemetery, Easton — The home of the infamous White Lady, this 400-year-old grave yard has been popular with ghost hunters for decades, ever since Ed and Lorraine Warren started regularly investigating it. Consequently, it’s one of the best-known haunted sites in the state, and a place to which everyone who claims to be interested in paranormal activity eventually makes a pilgrimage — the true mecca of Connecticut’s haunted cemeteries. Most visitors also pair it with Stepney Cemetery at the other end of Route 59 in Monroe, where Ed Warren is laid to rest.
2. Dudleytown, Cornwall — If you were going to rank the most famous of Connecticut’s haunted places, you could say Union Cemetery and Dudleytown are 1 and 1A. Once declared “the most haunted place in Connecticut” by — who else? — The Warrens, Dudleytown has also been called “cursed,” “damned” and “demonically possessed.” Stories still abound of weird sightings and odd experiences in and around the remaining foundations of the former settlement, even if the legend of the curses has been thoroughly debunked. Of course, the Dark Forest Entry Association that owns the land aggressively keeps visitors out, which only helps feed the reputation of Dudleytown. Still those who dare to venture there report an unnatural stillness and feelings of terror.
3. Remington Arms, Bridgeport — Thanks to the constant repeats of Travel Channel’s “Ghost Adventures” investigation, this has become one of the most popular haunted sites in the state. A former munitions factory in the heart of Bridgeport, the property — which has seen its share of tragedy and death — has been abandoned for decades and has fallen into utter disrepair. As such, it is truly looks like a place where bad things would be seen, and between its dark history, the dangerous conditions and its location in a troubled neighborhood, it’s easy to see why people are afraid of this place.
4. Fairfield Hills State Hospital, Newtown — The first of a trio of former abandoned “insane asylums” on the list, Fairfield Hills was closed by the state in 1995, and in the ensuing years has grown into a popular destination for ghost seekers as well as urban explorers. Like many former hospitals for the mentally disturbed, tales of cruelty and abuse surround the facility, which when combined with stories of odd happenings in the network of underground tunnels here — which have since been filled in — have helped forged its reputation, which was exacerbated when an episode of MTV’s “Fear” was filmed here. Plans to demolish the buildings and develop the 700+ acres keep starting and sputtering, but eventually this hospital of horror will only be a bad memory.
5. Seaside Sanatorium, Waterford — Another former “unrest” home for those seeking mental convalescence that has been abandoned by the state of Connecticut and is now in serious decay. A once-beautiful Cass Gilbert-designed edifice overlooking Long Island Sound, the sanatorium was built with the idea that the peaceful view would provide remedy. Unfortunately, patient abuse and a high suicide rate resulted instead, the perfect storm for departed souls who may never find peace. This place has been in the news since the governor swooped in at the last moment — for reasons yet to be explained other than her own vain desire to have a “legacy” — to block a sale to a private developer that had been years in the making, severely hampering plans for demolition.
6. Norwich State Hospital, Preston — The third member of the neglected state facility trio, Norwich is in lockstep with the others: long history of reported patient abuses and torment, closed down by the state a few decades ago, allowed to rot and fester, resulting in eventual hauntings being reported. This one has also been a political football, its fate bouncing between the state, the town of Preston and developers. Like the others, there are also plans to demolish it and replace it with something less creepy, but also like the others, it currently stands as a beacon for spirits and spirit hunters.
7. Bara-Hack, Pomfret — A former 18th-century settlement where all sorts of odd sounds, disembodied voices and laughter as well as supernatural sights have been reported . Like Dudleytown, Bara-Hack is currently on private property, but that (unfortunately) doesn’t stop unwanted visitors exploring the ruined foundations and home remains in search of the spirits of days gone by.
8. Little People’s Village, Middlebury — Another place like Dudleytown in that its reputation, although thoroughly debunked (it’s a former roadside attraction, not a home for pixies built by a madman), it still draws purveyors of the paranormal. Aside from the general creepiness that comes with finding a decrepit tiny village out in the woods, there is the “curse” of “The Throne” (sitting on it will bring death within seven years), reports of all sorts of weird lights and the rumor of fairies.
9. New London Ledge Lighthouse — Famously haunted by the supposed ghost of “Ernie,” a former lightkeeper, this lonely landmark in New London harbor has been investigated by paranormal groups from around the world, including T.A.P.S., aka “The Ghost Hunters.” A very active site, with all sorts of rappings, moving objects and random noises.
10. Gunntown Cemetery, Naugatuck — Even though there is no one particular legend associated with this cemetery that dates back over two centuries, there are all sorts of unusual phenomena that have been reported here. A virtual cornucopia of paranormal activity has been recorded here, everything from EVPs and disembodied voices to ghostly figures and disappearing dogs and children, as well as inexplicable feelings of dread.
11. Mansfield Training School, Mansfield — Originally built in 1917, this multi-building campus was designed as a refuge for the mentally ill. Set in bucolic eastern Connecticut, it seems as though it should’ve been an idyllic retreat; instead, there were allegations of abuse and neglect of patients. Since it was closed in 1993, there have been subsequent reports of spirit mists and orbs here, as well as experiences involving unexplained voices, sounds and shapes. A recent episode of “Paranormal Witness” investigated the haunting claims here and uncovered even more dark stories.
12. Undercliff Sanatorium, Meriden — Another of the creepy abandoned state mental hospitals, Undercliff Sanatorium has also been closed for decades, but that hasn’t stopped the ghost stories. Some allege to have heard the voices of children, both laughing and crying, while others have claimed to have seen the shadows and spirit of children in the windows of the now-empty buildings. One unsubstantiated story says the spirit of one resident who was attacked and murdered by his fellow residents still walks the now-closed grounds.
13. Poli Palace, Majestic Theatre and Savoy Hotel, Bridgeport — Despite having been closed for more than 40 years, this 13-acre, three-building complex right in the heart of Bridgeport still stands. Now an abandoned, dilapidated shell of its once-glorious self, some say more than the ghosts of vaudevillian memories tread the floorboards, be it the lost souls of two men murdered in the hotel or other dark energies that come with possibly being built on a Native American burial ground. Shadow figures, EVPs and many orb photos have been allegedly witnessed here.
14. Sterling Opera House, Derby — Unlike many of the other haunting sites in the state, the group who owns the Sterling Opera House has openly embraced their possibly paranormal history and has done extensive investigation of the facility, including having had multiple research teams come in, including SyFy’s famed “Ghost Hunters.” Multiple spirits are believed to be haunting the structure, including the entity of a young boy who is called “Andy.” Tours of the opera house, which is undergoing renovation, are offered from time to time.
15. The Yankee Pedlar Inn, Torrington — For more than 120 years, this 52-room hotel in downtown Torrington has welcomed guests—and ghosts, according to some. A few of the rooms have been alleged to house spirits, including Room 353, where the inn’s original founder, Alice Conley, purportedly died; her rocking chair is in the lobby, and has allegedly been witnessed rocking on its own. In February 2012, the horror movie The Innkeepers—filmed on location at The Yankee Pedlar, and loosely based around its alleged story—was released.
Honorable Mention: A few places that just missed the cut include Deep River Public Library, Seventh Day Baptist Cemetery, Carousel Gardens, Pettibone Tavern (now Abigail’s Grill), Huguenot House and the Daniel Benton Homestead.
So any others worthy of inclusion on this list?

Remington haunted? More like in the ghetto. Just because a place is abandoned doesn’t mean it is haunted, quit watching ghost hunter shows.
The ghosts people are seeing
The ghosts people are seeing are just second hand crack smoke…

if its not haunted then why is it on this website and being the third most haunted place in Connecticut. myself i live in Bridgeport and i have been to the factory there are faces in the windows if you actually go.
The stone house in Uncasville, ct definately has paranormal activity. I’ve tried to think of every explainable reason for why certain things happen and there are none. I’m beginning to be concerned for the people who live there. Something has actually tried to push me down the stairs while I was there. There is a child that lives there also. I need to find someone that can help these people!
stone house in Uncasville, ct
Are you talking about the stone house on maple avenue?! If so, I grew up there and it is definitely haunted.
Trust me- nothing is in Dudley town other than cop waiting outside with a nice fat ticket and a pair of cuffs. Don’t bother going there….it’s not worth it.
I’ve Been There
I’m sure if this went through the first time, but my father, daughters, and I went. Two he-women drove up in trucks with guns as soon as we got there. I felt instantly nauseous when I got out of the car. They said the Warrens just make up things to sell books. Yeah right. That’s why the he-shes are so protective of the place, I suppose. We’ll just sneak in through the ski resort on the other side. The cop driving up as we were leaving is in on it, too. What a bunch of weird, stupid idiots.
I live in Bridgeport and theres nothing haunting Remington, however I’ve been to Dudley ville and had the pleasure of staying there for maybe 6 hours and not being able to get out with 4 other people one who which is a marine, I could go into the story, but I will leave it short..the place is disturbing, you will see things you don’t want to and hear things you don’t want to and it has got to be the most twisted haunted location in ct that I have visited. Period. If there’s a more active place in ct I haven’t found it yet and I enjoy going around the state checking these places out so If I were you I would hold my opinion of this location high on the connecticut list of haunted demonic dreadful places in the state.
Dudley town
I have been there in the early 90’s. Needles to say we got to the bottom of the long trail and I felt stamach sick dry heaving abnormally. My friend thought perhaps that maybe I was once again pregnant. I wasn’t . I with the help of my friends managed to climb back up to the top still feeling ill and looking a tad green until we reached our vehicle and drove off. To say the least the place was quiet and I do not till this day have a valid explanation as to why I felt the way I did. FYI no, I was not nervous about being there . Just curious . Any explanation or input would be greatly appreciated.
Dudley town
So sorry for the typo’s btw . I didn’t have my glasses on!

i live in the stone house in uncasville there is no paronormal activity i do not know what are you talking about..???????????????????
at my school many of hundreds of kids say it is haunted and people have never returneed back. It is called sueaside high and i feel like somebody is always watching me.. i don’t feel safe most of the time and i wish i knwo what was there
I visited Gunntown Cemetary in Naugatuck. Fair warning DO NOT GO THERE!!!!!!!!!!!! Me and a group of my friends went we heard noises, laughter, saw figures and kept seeing a little boy. My friends used a Wigi board and it told us the little boys name was Allen “Al” for short and that he was 13 years old and his soul is trapped at Gunntown we went and found his grave stone which was exactly where he told us it would be. Something followed us home and taunted us for months. 2 years later nothing has happened but i will never go back again.
Out of curiosity I visited Union Cemetery a year ago. It’s not as secluded as I thought it would be. It’s bordered by two somewhat busy roads, and anyone can walk right in. I walked around a good bit and I didn’t see or experience anything but the place for sure has a “creepy” feel to it. I hear security is strictly enforced at night with a police presence, but even if there wasn’t any night security I definitely would NOT spend a night there, lol!
Well we ventured out to investigate both Union Cemetery and GunnTown Cemetery.. Union had a earie feel to it but nothing to crazy.. Gunntown was a different story, granted it was in the middle of the afternoon but childrens voices were heard without seeing any kids anywhere. It had a strange feeling that didn’t seem to want me their although my wife walked all over and saw the stuffed animal by one of the graves.. When we were done and got into our car my fully charged GPS was drained down to nothing.. I would not go there at night but definetly have respect and believe there is somehting there..
I live in Bridgeport and The Remington factory is hunted i went in there at night with a group of friend and i never seen anything like it just the feeling got when i walked in the building was just wired…. Myself and three other people heard sounds and seen thing…..maybe we were just tripping our self out but i know what i seen and heard
Just because you been some where once and did not experience anything dose not mean it’s not haunted. Depending on the person, they can be more venerable to spiritual energies then you or someone else. Just because you, yourself don’t see it dose not mean it’s unreal. You can’t see the wind but you can feel it and you know it’s there. Besides everyone sees with a different eye it doesn’t mean your right or wrong, it just means open your eyes a bit more be more open minded…
Vulnerable *****
Remington Arms in Bridgeport is not haunted. If you hear things or see things, even faces, it has something to do with all the homeless people in it. I used to work for the security company charged with patrolling it twice a day, I never went there, but people I know have. Its FULL of homeless people and they make noise trying to get away from anyone that might throw them out.
born and raised in hollywood california, now 66 yrs old….i have been involved in the paranormal for many years…..i have some great celebrity stories; many ouija stories, lived in several haunted homes, spent time in the personal residence of hitler///steve///
Are you sure when the investigation conducted by Ghost Adventures at Remington Arms in Bridgeport, that the “gun fire”, they heard wasn’t coming from outside? Bridgeport is gangster. Just because it wasn’t reported to the authorities that night, doesn’t mean something outside the factory didn’t occurs. They were told from the get go,..the area is unsafe….. I hear now they want to knock it down and put up wind turbines.
Remington Arms
not turbines…they are going to build a train station
I live a couple streets down from Remington Arms and i will admitt that Bridgeport isnt the greatest town ever , but when i was watching the Ghost Hunter episode they heard a gun shot ; it had to be haunted and couldnt have been outside . Remington Arms is located
on the corner of a busy street with apartments and a high school right across the street the gunshot wouldnt have been outside .
Remington is on the East end
Remington is on the East end of Bpt there is every chance that it was gunshots outside. I lived on East side and heard gunshots daily. Bpt is not a bad place to live at all. Just mind ya bussiness and u will b ok.
east side of Bridgeport? yeah
east side of Bridgeport? yeah be ready to expect the unexpected on the east side the shots probably did come from the exterior of the premises
I lived on Chestnut Tree Hill Road all my teenage and young adult life and I have walked, rode my bike and drove my car past this Cemetery many times and I never knew that it was haunted. But when I found out a few years ago that it was haunted it explained a very strange thing that happened to me very close to the Cemetery. As drove near the cemetery I noticed that the car started to overheat and had to pull over.Next day I got a lift from my wife to my car started it up without any trouble and it never overheated again.
I believe some of that stuff cause I hear the voices when gac here’s it
What about the Green Lady in Burlington Cemetery. We used to go there during our high school years.
That would be 7th Day Baptist
That would be 7th Day Baptist that they referenced further down as haunted but not most haunted. Indeed it is very active and I have had several bad experiences there.
Carousel Gardens is now a hair salon….look what they did to it…
http://www.bodyshoppesalon.com/
Haven’t heard of anything happening to anybody there since they “remodeled” it.
No mention, anywhere on the site, of the Union Trust Building in New Haven! 205 Church St. New Haven, CT right off the Green. On land originally owned (according to the original map of the “9 Squares” from 1641) by Richard Perry.
I been to #2, #3, #4, #5 #7 #8 and #9
They’re not haunted. Just creepy.
Also, why the f*** is Remmington Arms on the haunted list? I went there and all I saw was a bunch of used needles then this obviously from Alabama black cop rolled up a crown victoria that looked like it was from the 70’s was like “I DN’T WANNA ‘AVE ‘TA WRITE YA’LL A TRESSPASSIN’ CHARGE NAH! GET ALONG!”

the little peoples village is the stupidest thing ever. I went there with my friends and there was no paranormal activity at all.
I’ve been to Gunntown and to Union but, I think Hookman’s (Oxford) is way worse than those. Not to hard to get to but, you can easily miss it. It doesn’t have a street sign. I’ve been chased by I don’t know what but, it fowollowed us for well over ten miles. The cops don’t like people going there either. They may or may not give you a ticket.
Easily undercliff sanitarium. Sketchy place with a sketchy history, located off undercliff road in Meriden. Be careful though, it is constantly patrolled by local cops and arrests have been made for trespassing. Still might be worth taking a look into.
To Jess:
When Ghost Adventures went there, they had to video cams set up on two different floors. Both of them picked up a passing car, but only one of them picked up the sound of the gunshot and the woman screaming. At first I thought it could have been someone outside, but why would one cam pick it up and not another?
Sometimes I think that they’re a little over the top when they do investigations. Like when they get goosebumps, I don’t always trust it for some reason; probably because I’ve never experienced the feeling they’re talking about. But the gunshot was definitely not from outside.
The little ppl villige is hunted i was so drawn there. Affter only going once i whent back. Four times in one week if u walk in the foundation of the womens house u will feel coldness and it was summer when i when and just in the foundation was freezeing i have heard footsteps i have. Caught evps of noise and running and what to me sounded like chatter. But its. Ot. To bad alittle creepy but its not full blown haunted
Undercliff is. Haunted. Its creepy i have seen a little girl in a white. Pj dress. Weeping and crying on the steps and i have tryed to talk to her but she just. Disapears. When u get close. Its sad. To see this it worse when u bleave what is going on is true
my grandmother died in 1991. her favorite flowers were roses. i had to move back home because of divorce. during the first 2 years after my divorce i would smell roses permeating out of the corner of the room ! i even had my parents check it out. yes, they smelled them too. no explanation as to the source. i live in Bethlehen in an otherwise “quiet” house. i haven’t smelled them in awile. guess she thinks i don’t need visiting anymore !
bridget meant to say BETHLEHEM
I LIVE IN BRIDGEPORT,CT 4 MANY YEAR’S AND I WATCHED THE EPISODE OF GHOST ADVENTURE’S WHEN THEY VISITED REMMINGTON I DID FEEL THAT A PLACE LIKE THAT U WILL DEFINITLY HEAR ALOT OF NOISE FROM OUTSIDE IT’S A VERY OPEN PLACE ,I ALSO THINK THESE GUY’S KIND OF OVER REACT 2 ALOT OF THINGS.I DO BELIEVE IN PARANORMAL THINGS GROWING UP I’VE SEEN AND FELT MY SHARE OF HAUNTING’S NEVER SHARED IT WITH ANYONE OUT OF WHAT THEY WOULD THINK. hunting
Let’s go cost hunting
The reason Dudleytown was abandoned all those years ago wasn’t due to paranormal activity — it was because the villagers got sick and tired of walking up and down that @#$@#$#@ massive hill it’s at the top of! :O
I’ve been to dudley town many times, its not all that paranormal. Only what every site says, its to damn quite! Only thing thats creepy.
The Little People Village is not haunted. The truth is the houses and everything used to be on exhibit at Quassy Amusement Park a long time ago. The rest is all made up. There are no old man or woman that were driven insane by hearing the voices.
I went through Remington last week. Upstairs seems like a normal old factory. However when I went into the tunnels it was strange. I got some interesting photographs. Heading back next time with night vision equipment.
this is kinda funny cause a friend moved to my school from conneticut and he used to live 4 houses down from where the haunting in conneticut happend and im talking bout the story from the movie cause not all that stuff happend in that movie and he said his house you would hear people walking scratching on the floors or walls and ne nnight he got up to go tothe kitchen and he watched as all the chairs were unstacked and 3 inch claw marks were dug into them and recently he said his dads name was carved into them he still has all the chairs
I’ll vouge for #’s 2 and 4 being creepy… I wouldn’t say they were were haunted but they would certainly qualify as being creepy… Good stuff!
Fairfield Hills is now where the Newtown Town Hall is located – moved from the Edmond Town Hall (another creepy old building!) — most of the municipal offices are in one of the buildings — kind of cool to get to walk around in one of them – although it is very nicely renovated and modern looking inside now ..
Fairfield Hills is haunted.
Fairfield Hills is haunted. Got pictures of funky looking thing looking out window. Had interesting story at the morgue. U get arrested if caught now.
witin the factory of remington arms i have done my own investigations with a few friends. i would have to see it does have hauntings besides seeing faces in the windows, the random fire outbreaks (i used to hang out there everyday after school sometimes around 3am) theres voices you hear but once you get to the location there’s noone in sight.
How about Hell hollow road off of 49 in sterling even lighthouse inn
There is a Jewish cemetary in East Haven and a little wooded area behind it, many times I have seen strange things and feel a strange energy there, Many groups say they do paranormal research for free, if any of these groups are interested, this is a good place to check out.
Jewish cemetery east haven
I lived 1 block growing up there. I walked through which was once a road to get to get toy local high school. Growing up I never considered it haunted but, after many years later a friend and I revisited at night took pictures of many unexplained occurances
Thanks Rose.
Check out this site: http://www.cthauntedhouses.com – Not real haunts but it’s fun none the less.
What about Fort Griswald? Two of my children and I went there several years ago to celebrate The 4th of July. We noticed soldiers in uniform up on the hill after they shot their guns off. Other people also noticed too. The park was full of people that day but the only certain people saw the soldeirs. It was a whole regimond firing which got our attention. One person thought it was part of the celebration because it looked so real with black smoke, loud banging sound, and the men looking like they were alive. Well, when that person said that, I said oh look up there and it must be pointing up the hill. Other people walking by asked what we were talking about. We starting asking people then if they saw anyone up there. That is when we realized that some saw them and some didn’t. Now tell me how that is possible?
Me and my roommate went there for the second time tonight around 8:00pm. The first time we went to the Fairfield Hills was on a Friday night around 12:00pm, we had no problem walking around and there was no security in the area.
However, tonight once we arrived, we saw a patrol car circling the buildings with his flood lights on. The guard noticed us walking around but did not approach us. We kept on walking around all of the buildings while the security watched us from afar. Once we decided it was time to head back to our car and leave, there was a police car waiting for us and the officer asked us what we were up to. She ended up telling us that a couple of kids had broken into one of the buildings shortly before we arrived and that they were still searching for them. She ended up letting us go as we were only walking around causing no harm and not breaking into any of the buildings. I guess it was just an unlucky night.
I would recommend people to be extremely cautious if they intend to go into one of the buildings as there is in fact security until late at night and they will not hesitate to call the police or even search inside the buildings for any trespassers.
From our experience though, there is no security around after 11/12 pm. There is a lot of wildlife around the buildings at night though (such as dears and raccoons).
While walking around tonight, my roommate heard this loud “bump” noise from within one of the buildings. That was the only abnormal event all night.
I live i Mansfield, and i have never heard of the Mansfield Training Center being haunted. My mom’s first fiance worked there. The place is creepy, though.
I’ve been to fairfield hills asylum many times and just recently went back there 2 nights ago. Nothing about this place is scary and never heard any strange noises or sounds. All it is is a run down building that is trashed. Police also patrol this place.
some of these places, i have never heard of in connecticut, just the haunting in connecicut. show me a real haunting, i do beleive in ghosts. i always throught that waverly hills sanatorium, was the most haunted; beleive me that is a real haunted place. all those tb patients. people drying of that horrible diease, known as the ;white death’. what about some haintedschool yards like the one in alabama. known asthe haunted kids school yard. patty.
Really? Union Cemetery is number one? I live nearby to it and have visited many other locations on this list and I’d have to disagree with that.
13. Poli Palace, Majestic Theatre and Savoy Hotel, Bridgeport — i used to read meters for UI in the mid ’80s. one of my routes was downtown bridgeport. i had to open the metal trap door on the sidewalk in front of the theaters, go down with my litlle 2-cell flashlight, and walk to the back of the basement to read the meters. i got about half way across to the meters and all of the hair on the back of my neck stood up, i felt very cold, and i knew i had to get out of there. i made out a report stating why i couldn’t get to the meters. the only other time i felt that way was in a house that i found out later is known to the people who live and grew up there that it was haunted. and that’s the truth.
Middletown CT, the CVH at night time is super haunted, we drove down it one night and my friend bursted into tears after seeing a white man in a bathrobe staring at her. It was also just a really creepy feeling driving down there.
Whats tbe address? Because
Whats tbe address? Because me a group of friends went looking for it and couldnt find it. Is it behind the cvh ?
Little Peoples Village: the part about sitting on the thrown is not true. I would of died over 30 years ago.
The old union trust building on Elm and Church streets in New Haven
is haunted. Chris above mentioned it on post 24. I visited
That building since 1984 and worked there from 1993 to 2010.
Many people who worked and visited witness many ghostly
And paranormal encounters. On Nov 19, 2004 over 10
Police officers and the NHFD witnessed massive paranormal
Activity which left them and me lost for an answer. Even the
K-9 unit dogs were played by the entities. Very long story
But for me and most of the police that night sealed the deal
That the old Union Trust building is one of the great haunts
Of CT and the country. It also sits among the paranormal
Elite for being within a very small group of skyscrapers which
Is haunted. One of the others is the Sunshine 60 Building
In Tokyo, Japan.
The old Union Trust building in New Haven,
CT is amazing in the paranormal sense,
For consisting of so many different spiritual
Entities. The lobby seems to be the portal
Of much of the energy, including the bank
And basement. The lobby has raged with
Activity, from voices to apparitions. The
Same for the bank which caused a professional
Painting company in 2008 to work in fear during
Their overnight labor. The basement is infamous
For apparitions such as the the Walking Man who
Was often seen just strolling into empty bathrooms
And the headless man who was seen once there and
On 5 by a long time secretary. A demon was also
Photographed within the basement’s compressor room.
Tenants and employees often had the same nightmares
Regarding the building, such as walking through the halls
Which never ended and entering areas that became smaller
And larger! The underline theme of these nightmares was
Desperation and fear. People also developed an obsessive
Desire to stay in the building and to always feel the need to
Return there. The ghostly stories are many and a site will
Be built again to list them according to oldest to newest.
I think this is the best site ever to help me find a place for my science fair!!! Its based on paranormal activity and I might go to check out Union Cemetery and try to get the ‘white lady’ on camera or on a voice recorder. Any safety precautions I should take?
Trust me if you can get into Fairfeild hills one night when the security is not around and you will never doubt the paranormal state of it at all. My friends and I went there a night last summer and I felt that it would not be haunted at all. We got into one of the biggest buildings in the place and it was deffently the most creeped out and scared I have ever been! You will hear and see things that you can never needed to. Screams and moans fill the hallways and shadows and aperations are around every corner. Deffently a haunted place!!!!
Another really haunted place close is Harlem valley physic center bigger than Fairfeld hills and less security and almost all original very little buildings that were restored!
Union Cemetery….if you go there and a cop sees you will be going to jail
I grew up in bpt and herd alot of horror stories growing up. Has anybody heard of lindley st and if is really true. Has anybody gone there or know about it. i think that should be on the list if its true.
I was born in bpt and I believe rem.arms is haunted…yea I seem the show about it and yea I watch that show all the time and I do think they over react alot but I believe that what they got that night was true
I live in Naugatuck. A few months ago I went there with a few of my friends and their mom. It was night time and the whole time walking around I felt very creeped out and uneasy. As if there was something watching me the whole time. One thing we saw was at a kids grave stone an old naked creepy looking baby doll. My friend says she sees it in a differnt spot everytime shes gone.
I can personally verify 3 of these places first hand. I just CAN’T imagine any place being MORE evil, demonic, quiet and active than Dudleytown. It used to have the Blue Trail run through it until some MORON kids making a rogue “movie” (Blair Witch Remake) , incidentally started a huge fire that went out of control. They have since re-routed the trail which no longer passes the property. Even without entering the property- just being on the edge instills FEAR in people whom have no idea where they are. As a test I brought a girl to the ‘entrance’ (only reached by car- in a VERY residential dead end rd) where a sign says ‘dark entry’ meets the start. I said lets go for a walk with a smile and I was very sincere after I gave her a cold soda.
She said “I’m NOT getting out of this car NOR going anywhere near that!” SO out of the Double Blind Curiosity I asked “Oh, why not it’s beautiful up here?!”. NO! There’s “things’ walking around in there. (I played dumb) i then said “Oh , nobody is here but us”.. She looked at me- “No, I mean demons, evil”. I then laughed at her and drove off. I then told her when we drove past Baird’s Store that I knew what was really there. She said “Well it’s kinda obvious that somethings not normal and I knew as we were coming up to it. This area around it has evil everywhere.!
She is right! If Dudleytown is #2 or #3 then I do NOT want to go to #1 or #2! I been in Dudleytown where NO bird chirps, no bug crawls, no worm tunnels the soil,no animal walks and no person talks except in total silence. A anxiety filled feeling of evil, death, fear, being watched and REALLY getting pushed, hit, electronics failing to the invisible force that feels like a sheet is pulling your backwards. Almost every tree grows contorted, into a demonic figures. Many have been ‘shot down’ by lightening and split into pieces or two. The dreaded feeling of “GET OUT” fills every footstep.
I am glad I had the chances many will not. If I had and I have had the chance to return and enter dudleytown again, I REFUSE 100%! I leave there feeling guilty and feel even LESS gratified then if I never went. Dudleytown unlike ANY other location I’ve been to makes you regret you even went. (Even when nothing happens) Going there is like the recovering junky driving a needle into his/her arm. Like an Recovering Alcoholic taking that drink again.
Going there NEVER helps your curiosity and fills you with guilt and regret. STAY AWAY!
(They build home at the other end and you no longer have any reason to be even near there) Whats inside doesn’t want you there anymore than the people living and owning the property. Plus, you MUST park nearby cause of how high the spot is and you WILL get a ticket and usually a $120 trespassing ticket along with any Motor Vehicle violations.
Oh and back about Dudleytown and the OTHER locations. There are CRAZY neighbor(s) that lay in wait for people to drive up the hill. I almost SHOT the person one night myself!! As anyone has a right to drive on ANY public roads. I brought up a kid who was having a beer and driving while listening to music. I had him drive to the top of that big hill and we started to turn around at the top only to notice a car on our left. Its lights were out and I heard this BITCH holding a club or stick in one hand and a flashlight. I had my window down and I could hear her screaming ” F*cking Stop -You Aholes”. Even knowing why she did what she did at night- I feared for my life and I started to go for my revolver. Had the driver NOT gave the van gas and headed away. I would of shot ‘her’ in her chest – then probably drove away.
My point is- I’ve heard some people who live there are VERY mad at people driving up at all hours. Some as you’ve read are really stupid and crazy people. There is a neighbor with stupid antennas and wires running over his property. Next to them- we seen this guy dressed in Camo with a shotgun (Out of Hunting Season) sit on a deer stand next to Dudleytown. He? even had a camo mask on.
Now about Cemeteries- you have a Legal right to enter within it’s POSTED hours. Except for ones POSTED like Green Lady cause they have NO stones. Make sure you have a story straight and remember the police will almost ALWAYS Separate the 2 of you to get the ‘story’. If the cops pull you 2 apart and they are being jerks. Be sure to say “Officer, if your going to ask questions about us, then you can ask us together in front of each other. We have nothing to hide so I don’t want each other to think one is talking about the other. Your ONLY answer should be- your looking at the Stones in a PUBLIC Cemetery during PUBLIC HOURS. Your trying to see what relatives are here.
I have been to the Hospitals mentioned above including Fairfield Hills and I certify they are very Haunted. So is the Lighthouse as is ANY Cemetery. ALL Cemeteries are Haunted to Various degrees. Reason being is your dealing with DEATH. Which is Satan’s Domain.
You are NOT talking to ‘people’ but rather Demons impersonating people. They really HATE you and do not want you there. (Reason why you feel unwanted) Demons have ‘jobs’ to make people suffer from fear, sadness, hatred, homosexuality and other perversions, murder, depression and so on. Which is the reason you experience those emotions. They lie and try to make you think the ‘dead’ are sad or were and “need” you to help them cross over. LIE!
Well I’m done here and there are plenty of more haunted places. I suggest one google for more haunted places to see whats in the areas around them. Well, have fun, be careful and most of all DONT be stupid.
I would drive by gunntown everyday to go to work in Oxford and everytime I went by would get an errie feeling and even on the sunniest days there would be a fog right when I got to tat spot.

@benjamin yes Lindley street is haunted..the warrens investigated there
Why is Connecticut so haunted?
Ive been in the Curtis House In Woodbury Ct. Its the self proclaimed oldest Inn in the USA It is supposed to be haunted.??? I lived on the corner of route 6 & 61 in Woodbury in a house formally The Three Corners Inn, My self & my family felt & saw thing that indicated something odd were going on.
Anyone been into Seaside as of late?
To Benjamin and Phil..I am 56 yrs.old and yes there was a house on Lindley St. that had paranormal activity that was actually witnessed by the police officers that responded to the call by the family that lived there. The young girl that lived there said to have been the source of the haunting. The police officer witnessed furniture being up in the air and said there was no way that it could’ve been faked. It was in the newspaper and TV news and the road in the area of the house was closed for at least a week. The home it occurred in was knocked down to put a parking lot for the condominiums that are there now. If you drive down the street you can see the remaining 2 white bungalow style houses to the right of the condominiums. The house it happened in looked just like those 2 remaining….it was a big deal when it happened and I will always remember this.
All the Little People Village was, was a tourist attraction a long time ago. It was a little train ride for kids.
I am not involved in any paranormal search etc but here’s my thoughts…Late 2012 my aunt died in Easton. While I was in town I stopped at the Union Cemetery, as I was just driving around looking at a few old roads etc. I went into the cemetery and respectfully walked between the graves, trying to read the carvings from 300+ years ago….fascinating to say the least and I felt/thought nothing odd at all. I had an aunt that was a resident at Fairfield Hills in the 60s/70s (about 12 or so years) and simply put, NONE of those properties are pleasant places, not for the patients or the staffs. The grounds were always clean and well kept but the odors and sights in the buildings were tough to stomach. As for Sterling Opera House in Derby, I grew up there (now THAT’s frightening) and NEVER heard of any ghost stories….contact the Derby Historical Society (near said Hysterical) for a tour…..
As an inclusion or mention I would also after having the privelage of being there 6 times and having the most unexplainable things happening there .The Vivian Vance house in Ct. Ethel from I love Lucy .That house has so many unique things going on that I have still question my beliefs about paranormal
This in response to Mk May. Hate to break it to you but “homosexuality” is no longer being labelled as a “perversion” linked to “demonic activity”. It is quite laughable that someone with your outdated thinking, somehow finds it perfectly moral to have “brought up a kid, who was having a beer and driving” (great English, by the way). Also, to be proud of the fact you brought a gun and almost shot a “b*tch, who was well within her right to be annoyed at people drinking and driving, while carrying (most likely illegal, considering your horrid spelling) weapons close by her property. Not to mention in the Bible it is explicitly spelled out in Chapter 18 of Deuteronomy: “Let there not be found along you anyone who consults ghosts and spirits or seeks oracles from the dead. Anyone who does such things is an abomination to The Lord.” So, to conclude my lesson in high morality, you MK, are the real abomination. So Sayeth, The Lord. Go read a book & stop being a degenerate, bigoted, hateful, idiot.
On a side note- if you think Ct is haunted, you should live on the Big Island in Hawai’i for a bit. It makes Connecticut seem tame in comparison.
The property that the State Forensics Lab and Midstate Medical Center in Meriden is on used to be an oprhanage!!! I went for a tour of the Lab as part of a College class, and many of the people who work there have had sightings and heard voices of little children… Many of the children were murdered and buried on the property without and headstones… Also, Southbury Training School in Southbury is said to be haunted, and is extremely creepy!!!
Have you guys actually been to any if these? Or are you just publishing stories?
I’ve been to Remington arms 6 times and I’ve never witnessed anything “paranormal”. It just dark and creepy.
I have been to Fairfield hills and it is probably one of the scariest places I’ve ever been to. I have a picture of a face sitting in the window of one of the buildings and I have a short EVP. This place is one of my favorite places to search for the paranormal!
Joe, I have yet to attempt to try and get into Fairfield Hills. I have been wanting to for ages, and really hope to perhaps this year. Aside from finding a companion as willing and open minded as I am, what other precautions should I take. I know security is the main issue here, cops patrolling etc. I have no desire to do anything other than walk around at night time. I consider myself a respectful admirer of all things paranormal. Any information you could lend me would be great, thank you.
I went to dudleytown 3 days ago and that place just gives you creepy ass vibes. Also when people say that you hear nothing that is completely and 100% the truth. Me and 2 friends were walking on the rowd and when we were walking we heard crickets but when we stopped there was just silence and the wind blowing. Once we got off the road that dudleytown is on I kid you not that we heard wildlife so its very true that there is just silence in dudleytown. Afterwards I was in a parking lot and I was taking a piss next to my car and all heard were foot steps like someone was running and I turn around Nothing was there. There were no cars, no people, nothing. So maybe something followed me from dudleytown. But I would recommend going there if you want to get creeped out
I went to Dudleytown about 20-25 years ago. I did not see anything or hear anything
unusual. It did ,however, have an eerie feeling to it that is hard to describe. I would like to
go back again, but I hear that people now get arrested for going there. From what I remember, it was heavily wooded and in a valley of sorts. Due to the geography, the sun
would shine at odd angles causing all sorts of creepy shadows. It was interesting in the daytime, but I would not want to be there between dusk and dawn!!
I went to Dudleytown around 35 years ago, and felt the eerie feeling that Dan describes for a few days after visiting the site. A few of the people I accompanied dug around for artifacts, and we were all feeling uncomfortable about bringing them back to our campsite. I did not know at the time that Dudleytown was alleged to have been haunted, so I didn’t have predisposition about the site.

Been to the little people village many times when I was younger, although we called it Land of the Little People. Sat in The Chair of Death too!!!! Still Alive 25 years later!
Hello everyone. There are certainly some interesting comments here, I mean that in a good way for most. I could shate several stories as I have been to some of these places and many more that could be on this list. My top three favorites that I am willing to share are Camp Connecticut which is well known though I stopped goin there because in my advancing age I am more sympathetic to those who keep having thier property trespassed upon, Sunrise Resort (wonderful evps there), and River Road Cemetery in Mystic. My best evidence came from other spots but I want to keep them accessible and publicizing them all over the web helps attract vandals who ruin everything. Short story long, I wanted to touch upon Dudleytown. I went there twice, a night and the next day. Went in the evening to no contact with the locals looking for a geocache. It was nifht but a bright moon and we were hoping to wrap up the gc series so we started up the path. Not more than 50 yards up the trail the gps goes haywire with the pointer on the screen starts to spin and points backwards. Strangely when we turn around (still standing in the same place) and the arrow points correctly back up the trail. We tried this again in a few places but to the same result. It made no sense at all. It is not a compass so magnetism should have had no effect and if the signal had been screwy it should have kept spinning the arrow whatever direction we faced but here it was clearly pointing for us to go back. We left and hiked up there the next day. Got stopped at the road by trail minders but we were polite and told them there was a geocach on trail property and would respect the no trepassing signs. We had a right to hike the trail but we didnt push it and they left us be except when we got up there someone wrote us a note in the snow with an arrow pointing to echo rock where the trail guy asked us if we were going. Told him we dont know but the cache has to be on public land. Anyway there were some animals up the re in the day. It was quiet but it was winter so who cares. No other evidenxe to report.
Sorry about the spelling and grammar, I am new to this smart phone.
lies, lies lies. i walk my dog in the parking lot and ther are no faces in the windows. i even walked up to the windows and look in. nothing not scared @ all. bull shit
I currently work in the Union Trust building in New Haven. It can get creepy at night. I’ve heard footsteps when no one else was in the building but me, and I will say that I don’t like going to certain floors. It’s just a feeling, it’s almost like an oppression or a sense of dizziness or sudden gravity that I’ve experienced on those floors. The other night I heard a bang behind me. There is just a solid wall. Sometimes I just don’t like being in there. I’d like to know what’s happened in here that makes this building feel this way.
I have been in 7 different buildings @ Fairfield Hills Hospital and in the tunnels numerous times.
The last time I was inside was the fall of 1995. I and many other people I know have experienced sighting of apparitions in @ least 3 of the buildings. Never experienced anything paranormal in the tunnels all though there were a lot of sights that were not normal by every day standards (keep in mind it was a hospital for the mentally ill). The tunnels were eerie just because of the dim lighting, leaks, and temperature changes.
I also remember the disturbances @ the house on Lindley St. in Bridgeport. They were reported in the media and by both police and fire depts. I’m pretty sure the Warrens helped investigate but never heard of the outcome in any investigation.
The Demon Possession Trial which took place in Danbury in 1981 or 1982 was a result of a case that both the Warrens and an exorcist were involved in. I believe had its start when a demon followed a family home after they went to look @ house in Newtown CT. The child supposedly met a new ‘friend’ @ the house which was on the market and told parents his friend was following their car back to their own home. That child was eventually believed to be possessed. And the boyfriend (Arne Johnson) of an elder sister wound up stabbing his landlord after challenging the demon in the child. The case made National News because of the defense that was used in the case.
There are many occurrences of ghost and other sightings all around CT. Having experienced some of them first hand I know there is truth to a lot of them. I would advise people not to use Ouija or spirit board because of the problems that can come with them!
to those talking on lindley st….corrine gave a very good explanation of what really happened in the home. the cat was talking to the cops as he sat on the refrigerator. the girl in the home supposedly was from a foreign country not sure where but she had been studying from a certain book. the dresser drawers were slamming open and shut. I remember walking by with the police tape around the property as it had just happened. A big story and very shocking for those from bridgeport for sure. Thanks for reminding me again.
Meena #99 — I use to work at the Union Trust building for years. Most of the guys who worked the late shifts and early morning all believed it was haunted. What do you do there? Also, when you have an experience please write it down here. Thank you! As for why its haunted, we never knew for sure. Several people passed away there and the gravitational pull was always strong on 10! Way over down to the left it felt like the building would move. So many paranormal events happened to me there in my 17 years plus and to many others.
I just saw a repeat of the ghost adventures episode filmed at Remington arms in Bridgeport. what a trip! I was born and grew up in Bridgeport, my grandparents retired from remington. I never paid any attention to the place. it was just part of the landscape. I also remember the lindley street house. I think it was painted yellow and had swan statues on either side of the front door. I read Corrine and Jeanne’s posts and they are pretty accurate. anyway another place in bpt that is pretty creepy is the nursing home on coleman st that was built onto an old mansion (?). some of the patient rooms were part of the old house and the attic was used for storage. there were the prerequisite stories of someone killing themselves in the attic, doctor/nurse/patient love affairs gone bad, the usual. I am somewhat a paranormal hopeful skeptic but one afternoon I was in the attic looking for something and as I was leaving to go back to my office I had the feeling that someone was watching me. the feeling was so strong and I was so scared that I refused to turn around because of what I might see. I know, what a wuss. so i’m coming home in a week or so and look forward to visiting/revisiting some of the places I’ve read about here particularly Remington and also pleasure beach. sad how that ended up. my father was Bridgeport police for 20 years so maybe sgt myers from the g.a. episode can give me a tour!
I live in the town right next to Newtown. I’ve driven past fairfield hills many times. Never noticed anything wrong with it

DudleyTown is really creepy
My fiancé and I decided to take a drive up to the gates this past winter. We had his moms brand new trail blazer. as we pulled onto the road, the radio turned to static and read “ILL I AM’ the entire drive to the gates and back. As soon as we got on the main road, it went back to normal. This was my 5th time there. The ONLY time I didn’t go past the gate. I just thought it was really creepy how the radio in the BRAND NEW car decided to stay that way and go completely back to normal when we left. CRAZY.
there is one incredibly
there is one incredibly haunted place in Willington…a very old small town. Moose Meadow Road. The entire street is full of creepy things. Moose Meadow Button Factory, The Moose Meadow Cematary, and the masion at the end of the road. You can hear kids screaming with no kids anywhere and also see shadowy figures and glowing orbs. Its really freaky.

Sterling Opera House
Just so you know — there is no group that owns the Opera House. It is owned by the City of Derby. Up until the privileges were abused, paranormal groups were allowed to investigate in there and photographers were allowed to photo shoot in there.
bailey hill,12 lewis st.groton
Built in 1825 by a hard working Yankee farmer that put his sweat into 104 acres of hard granite and shallow top soil to raise a family and pass it on to the bailey and fulton family s, the last son William died on christmas eve 1958, the farm went to his sister carrie lewis then to robert fulton her son in law, the house was sold 4 times from 1969 to 2015 and up for sale again, every xmas eve the house goes into turmoil, every thing not bolted down gets tossed ,dishes, decorations, xmas tree floated up off the floor and went 30 ft.into the kitchen, this is only 5% ,the family who was the first buyer stayed only a year moved out,the next family was the medbury,s who did stay for allmost 30 years and raise a family, the kids complained about being pushed and thing’s thrown at them ,when bill medbury died the property was sold , the house was cleaned up and flipped for a higher sum and sold a year later , the family who bought it paid a high price only to feel the full Rath of the past generations that occupied the property, when a well known clairvoyant was confronted by the the bailey,s and medburys she was told in full spirit form that if you disrespect the property and our families you will suffer, after that and another rash of houshold items being tossed and a bad xmas encounter the owners walked away from the property after 3 years, the property was taken by the bank a picked up for a near record low and flipped again , hasint been sold yet, i walked through and there is now 5 spirit’s and they have the same message,we have been here too long and put our lives into this home and this land to lett someone trash it and disrespect it. And we’re not going to move on till were satisfied that its being taken care of,
