Its sad to say that this place is now destroyed and will be turned into a hair salon and school.
Such a shame!
Yes, this building is no longer a restaurant. Renovations are complete and it is now a hair salon and daycare as stated. I live just down the street from it. I wonder if they had any strange goings on during renovations.
I am really not happy about that hair salon. Its not what you should do with a haunted building.
This place actually wasn’t haunted. My friend knows the new owners of the hair salon and they said that as they were doing the renovations they gutted out the walls and found things to make knocking noises in the walls and tape recorders to play back what sounded like foot steps. It was basically all just made up to attract paying costumers. It’s disappointing.
Before this Victorian mansion became Carousel Gardens restaurant, it was used as a business office back in the early 80s for a law firm and some accountants. Before that it was owned by an older lady who I believe was the last of the original family that built it. I used to deliver the Evening Sentinel (the Valley newspaper) there 6 days a week in the afternoon in the early 80s. I never heard or saw anything strange and none of the office staff back then every indicated anything weird about the place.
I GREW UP KNOWING THIS PLACE EVEN BEFORE IT BECAME A RESTAURANT. IT HAD STRANGE THING GOING ON EVEN THEN. I SAW FIGURES, HEARD PEOPLE TALKING WHEN NOBODY WAS THERE & FELT THINGS. WHEN IT WAS A RESTAURANT I WENT THERE OFTEN & EXPERIENCED MANY ODD THINGS. THEN I DID A READING FOR THE OWNER & WE FOUND LOST PAPERWORK & ORIGINAL BLUEPRINTS FOR THE BUILDING. WE FOUND HIDDEN ROOMS & OTHER STUFF IT WAS GREAT. I’M SAD TO HEAR IT IS BEING TORN DOWN & TURNED INTO A HAIR SALON & DAYCARE. IT WAS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL BUILDING EVEN BEFORE IT WAS A RESTAURANT. I HOPE THE SPIRITS ARE OK WITH THIS & IF NOT I HOPE THEY SCARE THE HELL OUT OF EVERYONE THERE.
I worked at a conv. store across the street from the home and went there several times. Workmen frequented the store and one time brought me wood cornor blocks (rosettes) from the origional house. I returned them to the family who owned the rest. and witnessed and old woman short in height, white hair in an upstairs bdrm. Also at another time witnessed a boy early dress, on a old bike bringing something to her she was young and on the large porch that was closed-in for the rest.
I have to agree with Hanna and upset… I am so mad that they’ve destroyed it. It was gorgeous and they ruined it. I used to deliver phone books in Seymour and when I had to bring the salon theirs I cried!!! All the beautiful woodwork, trim, and other detail work was gone and replaced with REALLY ugly, modern, institution-like plastic and metal. I mean I can accept changes and that nothing lasts forever but gotta wonder why they couldn’t have adapted the use without utterly raping and defiling its original beauty.
I took my wife here many years ago (5th yr. Wedding Anniversary)! I loved doing spontaneous things for her. In a nutshell, the food was awful, no creepy sites/sounds, and upstairs looked like an indoor tag sale… lol
My Best,

What the ..
they actually left a lot of the trim, but the did a horrible sin AND PAINTED IT ALL WHITE! can you image!?!!? the fools.
It also appears all of stainded glass windows on the top of the stairs are gone. I wonder if they sold them off or some moron trashed them.
I ate there with my friend
I ate there with my friend back in 1993 and a water glass on the table just slowly moves across the table by itself as we watch it. We just look at each other for a minute, like did you see that. We tried everything to debunk what just happen but could not, The old lady is still there sometimes.
